Honesty
Deceived by Samhayne and captured by Blackthorn, you've been
thrown into a small prison cell in the dungeon of Deceit and all your belongings
were lost. Aided by powerful magic, you make your initial escape from your cell.
But to get out of the dungeon you will have to see through the tricks of this
dungeon and gain yet another tainted Rune.
- After the movie clips you'll end up standing in a cell, seemingly trapped.
A thorough search of the cell reveals nothing. But, if you stare out the cell
at the lit torch across the hall for about 10 seconds, you'll see it go out.
Turn left and you'll now see the the telltale lines of a secret door in the
wall. Click on it to open it and follow the passageway. It'll seem like you're
coming to dead ends, but just keep walking forward and the walls will magically
disappear. You'll eventually come to a room with a strange Spider
Statue.
- This statue is the key to your escape from the prison part of Deceit. Click
on it and the room will change color to blue. Go back out to your cell and
the door will seem transparent. The spider seems to cause the reality of the
dungeon to shift in and out of phase with the rest of the world (fancy talk
for saying it allows you to walk through doors and such ;). Walk through your
cell door and turn around to click the button that opens the door. It won't
appear to have opened, but when you go back and touch the spider again, everything
returns to normal, and your cell door is open. Go and do exactly that and
return to the area outside your cell.
- Turn right and you'll come to a table with a key on it. Take the key and
then turn to your left and you'll see some barrels. On the leftmost barrel
you'll find another handy Bag. Be sure and take that with
you. If you break these barrels, you'll find some Chainmail Arms.
The Wyrmguard ones you might have gotten oh, so long ago are actually better,
so keep them on if you have them. Back in the cell across from you are some
yellow potions. Since you don't have your inventory anymore, I highly recommend
taking these. If you break the barrels outside that cell, you'll find a Chainmail
Coif. Take it if you haven't gotten one already.
- The wooden door is only unlocked when reality is solid, but there's a closed
cell door on the other side. Run back to the Spider and shift reality again
so the room is blue. The key you got off the table will unlock the wooden
door when it's transparent and you can then walk right through the cell door.
Turn around and push the green button to open the cell. Run back to the Spider,
touch it to turn the room red, and run back. Look to the left and look for
the telltale signs of a secret door. Click there to exit the prison area.
- You'll enter a room with a brazier in the middle. Touch it to cause a green
ball to rise and the room will alternate from red to green to normal light.
When the room is green, the opposite door can be opened. DO NOT TOUCH THE
CHEST!!! It's a Mimic and you're in no shape to challenge one of these. The
button on the wall just lights the torches in the room.
- Follow the passage until it comes to a "T" branch. To the right is a room
with buttons on different pedestals. The blue button makes a yellow potion
appear on top of it. The red button shows you a vision of a magical path over
some lava in another room. The green button makes a skeleton appear. It is
possible to kill this skeleton with just your bare hands. The key to permanently
defeating skeletons is to take one piece of their broken body with you and
drop it a good distance away from the rest of them. This keeps them from pulling
themselves back together for another attack. Take the Cutlass that
appears floating above the button and use the yellow potion to heal yourself.
- Go back down the hall and follow the other path around to a lava filled
room. Follow the path shown to you by the red button in the above mentioned
room to get to the platform on the right side of the room. There are two buttons
on this wall. Press the blue button on the left to make a path appear up out
of the lava to your left. Run across it and it'll fall back into the lava.
Get on the floating platform and ride across to another stone platform. Watch
out for the fireballs coming from the statue that you passed on your ride
over. The platform will return to its starting position, but don't worry about
it. On this wall you'll see a whole bunch of buttons. You have to press the
correct one (see picture below) to make a staircase appear behind you. The
correct one is the second one from the left in the second row (blue). Climb
up the stairs and press the purple button on the wall. This will cause a floating
platform to appear that takes you back to the stone platform you first walked
to.
- This time press the purple button on the right to make another floating
platform appear to your right. Get on it and ride across the lava to the other
side of the room. When you step off it, the platform will return to its starting
place. Turn and face the wall for another button puzzle.
- There are five buttons on the wall here. From left to right, they control
the statue there like this (also see picture below): Major Turn Clockwise,
Minor Turn Clockwise, Shoot, Minor Turn Counterclockwise, Major Turn Counterclockwise.
Turn the statue Counterclockwise (blue buttons) to make it face the sun-face
that's on the staircase you rose before. Press the red button to shoot a magic
ball at it and the force-field will disappear from the teleport in the middle
of the room.
- Turn the statue around so it's facing the sun-face on the opposite wall.
Shoot at it to bring the floating platform back to you. Ride back and press
the blue button again to raise the platform and get back to the staircase
again.
- Call the platform from the top of the stairs again and hop on. This time,
you've got to be quick and press the green button on the side of the center
platform as you pass it. This will cause the platform to divert its path and
drop you off at the center platform. Grab the potion if you need it and step
on the teleporter. You'll be taken to an extremely large, lava-filled room.
- Follow the lifted path around to the right and you'll see the Glyph. Or
is it? It'll disappear as you get close to it. This dungeon certainly lives
up to its name, and this won't be the first time. Press the button on the
pedestal where the Glyph was and the tilted stone on the other side of the
path will fall into place, giving you access to the other side.
- Jump onto the small platform with the table and crystal ball. Touch the
crystal ball for a clue on how to solve the next puzzle. The buttons on
the table move the sun-face around. You have to move it into position
so the statue across the way will shoot and hit it. This will most likely
take several trips back and forth to get it right. Just touch the large statue
to make it fire. Watch the fireballs that shoot alternatingly from the twin
statues. There's a trick to running back to the other side and not getting
hit from behind. Take small steps towards the path leading back and the fireball
will shoot right by you as long as you didn't get too close. Run behind that
fireball and you should make it to the other end before another one fires
along that same path. You cannot outrun these fireballs if they fire too close
behind you. When you finally hit the sun-face, a floating platform will appear.
- Hope onto the new platform and take a ride over the lava. You'll be taken
to a stone plateau with a teleporter. Step on it and you'll be taken to small
room. Drop down and kill the spider. In a few seconds a Bow
will appear floating above the table. Touch the small statue in the one corner
to make a bunch of arrows appear. Looking in the mirror closest to the table
heals you. Looking into the other makes a fireball shoot at you. Equip your
bow and shoot at the sun-face to make a staircase appear. Climb up and stand
on the pressure-plate to make another sun-face appear. Shoot it also and a
wooden plank path will appear across the gap. It disappears quickly, so run
across fast and teleport back to the lava room.
- Ride back and look for the sun-face across the lava path. Shoot it with
your new bow and arrow to make another path extend. BE CAREFUL as it doesn't
extend all the way. You have to jump to get on it. Turn the valve to lower
the lava level throughout the room permanently. Go back to where you first
teleported into this room and drop down onto the now accessible plateaus.
Touch the crystal ball for another hint on how to progress. Ride the gold
platform back up to the stone bridge path. Make your way to the opposite end
of the room and drop down here. You'll see a new alcove available.
Make your way back there and step on the teleporter. Touching the crystal
ball back there gives you a disturbing vision of some farm animals walking
around on the roof of a throne room.
- Both the chests in this room are Mimics. You're really not a good match
for them at the moment, but you can attempt to kill them. The goal of this
room is to stand on the fancy looking floor and shoot a moving sun-face on
the opposite wall. It's trickier than it looks, but with persistence, you'll
hit it. Try to lead it a bit with your shots. A successful hit will make the
Blue Orb appear on the pedestal in the corner. Take it and go back
to the lava room. Pick any one of the pedestals with the three golden claws
on top and place the orb on it. It doesn't matter where you put them. A piece
of a stone bridge will appear.
- Work your way back to the corner where the twin, fire-shooting statues are.
You'll notice a stone obelisk sticking up out of the lava. Touch it and the
lava will recede for a few seconds. You'll see a chest in the corner. Quickly
open it and take the Red Orb. When you hear the loud beep, that means
you have about 1 second to get back up on some higher ground before the lava
rushes back in. Place the orb on another claw pedestal and more bridge will
appear.
- Take the gold floating platform back to the the where the teleporter was
where you got the Bow. This time, look around in the lava around the plateau
for one of the obelisks. Touch it and make your way to the other teleporter.
This takes you to another small room where you've got to use your bow skills
to proceed. The chest contains two yellow potions. Pressing the button on
the center pedestal makes a sun-face appear on the wall. You have to shoot
the sun-faces within a certain amount of time as they appear all around you
on all walls. If you fail, you'll have to start over again. Your final shot
will appear as a gray target near the larger corner pedestal. Success gives
you the Green Orb. Teleport back.
- It may look like your trapped, but of course you're not. Touch the obelisk
to lower the lava and run back down the corridor and you'll see a safe spot
to hop up to. And, low and behold, there's a spot for your newly attained
Orb. There's another obelisk nearby that'll let you run back to the main area.
- Hit the obelisk near the Orb Holder that's down close to the lava in the
main area. Run down the hallway in the direction that the new bridges have
been appearing when you correctly place the orbs. Jump up on the plateau down
there and step on the teleporter back in the corner. You'll be taken to a
small maze-like room. I've drawn a picture of it below. Press the button above
the pedestal and you'll have to run around the maze and shoot the sun-faces.
You only have a few seconds to get to the next one before it disappears. Success
will get you the Yellow Orb. The chest contains a Full Heal Scroll.
There is also a War Hammer sitting in the corner near the pedestal. Return
to the lava room and place the final orb in the holder. The last bridge will
appear. Use the obelisk back here to lower the lava and run back to the main
area. Get back up on the stone walkway and make your way down the newly completed
path to the large teleport.
- You're teleported to a very large, lava filled room. If you look around
you'll see the Column. Facing the column, turn right and walk in that direction.
You'll watch a cut-scene where another Wyrmguard sics her pet Hellhound on
you. If you got the War Hammer, this hellhound is a piece of cake (real ones
later are a bit harder). With it defeated, some stones will rise up out of
the lava to give you access to the Wyrmguard's area. When you get there, she
will triple herself. Although it's not obvious at all, this Wyrmguard is actually
one of your friends whose been turned by the Guardian. It's Mariah. When they
attacks, ONLY KILL THE WYRMGUARD THAT HAVE A WEAPON!!! They are the doubles.
The real one has no weapons in her hands (she casts spells), and if you want
a valuable reward later, DO NOT KILL HER!! When one is down, a floating platform
will eventually appear along one of the edges. Just run around until it appears,
dodging the attacks. Ride it to the Column and get the Glyph of Deceit. Get
back on the platform and you'll be taken to a teleporter.
- The teleporter takes you back into a stone hallway. If you press the button,
the stones behind you will disappear. This leads back to the beginning of
the dungeon, but you won't be needing to go back there. Head down the hallway
and you'll be taken outside to Moonglow...
